The Presidents Page

Welcome to Chapter #31, the Andy Smith Oregon Chapter of Telecom Pioneers. Pioneers is the oldest volunteer organization in the world, having approximately 800,000 active volunteers a year! Imagine how many things that many people can get done!

Let me introduce myself. My name is Lynda King. I am an active Qwest employee, my position being Field Operations Manager for Oregon, Idaho, Utah, and Montana. I will celebrate 30 years with the company in January 2009. Almost from my first day with Pacific NW Bell, I was engaged in community service, and now have the privilege of being the 2008 Chapter President of the Oregon Pioneers

Pioneers provides us with an opportunity to give back to our community. There is no greater feeling than that which comes from giving of yourself to make life better in some small way for another human being.

We are continually seeking new projects in our community. If you have a favorite organization that needs help – volunteers is the best help we offer, and we offer the best volunteers – contact the club or council nearest you and talk with them. I guarantee you that if they can help, they will. Our focus is on education and we are working to make the kids in our community successful.

Oregon currently has 9 Pioneer clubs, each with their own executive board and membership. Please check out our website and read about the club closest to you, see what activities they are involved in around your area. Meeting information is on the site and all meetings are open. Attending a meeting is a great way to see what we do and how to get involved.

Contact information for the Chapter officers is also on our website. Please feel free to contact any one of us with questions, comments, or suggestions.

HOPE TO SEE YOU AT A PIONEER SPONSORED EVENT DURING 2008!
