Ride the Winds Bike A Thon for Wyoming Cares

The MS Bike-a-Thon in Wyoming changed to the Wyoming Cares (http://wyomingcares.org/) Bike-a-Thon in about 2001. The event (http://wyomingcares.org/ride_with_the_winds.htm) is held the first weekend in August each year. Dave Bair has been the project lead for the last twenty plus years.  He meets with the Wyoming Cares staff as soon as the route is announced and works in partnership with them to ensure the route is mapped out correctly.   Each year Dave, with support from his partner Mary Ann, drives the route, maps it out on paper and determines the best and safest locations for rest stops, orders and picks up food for rest stops and lunches. Dave organizes Pioneer volunteers to man the rest stops for the bicyclists, who also serve as flaggers and assist in the loading and distributing food and cases of beverages to each set of volunteers for their rest stops.   To volunteer contact Dave Bair at 634-1089.  Here are some of the 2008 event pictures:
